ChiChi’s Top 5 Frogs in Video Games
As a froggy enthusiast and video game content creator, I consider myself pretty high-ranking on the list of those who know about frogs in video games. From old to modern, frogs have existed as main and side characters in gaming. They fill every froggy lover’s heart with joy each time they show up on screen. As such, I think it’s time we give the best frogs in gaming the shine they deserve.
5. Every frog in Here Comes Niko!
Here Comes Niko! (2021) is a wholesome game about friendship, favors, and the occasional handsome frog. Developed by the appropriately named company Frog Vibes, Here Comes Niko! is a must-play for all froggy lovers, because there is so much variety in the kind of frogs you can interact with in the game. My favorite frog is the Handsome Frog. You’ll understand when you play the game.~
4. Jeremiah in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Anyone who has tuned into my streams or who watched me find 10 frogs for my island will recognize Jeremiah. He is blue, he is lazy, and he only cares about snacks and bugs. What more could you ask for from a froggy friend? Jeremiah is present in every game in the Animal Crossing series, and he captured my heart in New Horizons (2020).
3. Zephos in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Two things to know about me is that I love frogs, and I love The Legend of Zelda as a series. So it is no surprise that a frog from the series would show up on this list. Zephos, a wize and friendly frog awaits you in The Wind Waker (2002). He is seemingly the opposite of his brother, Cyclos, who torments travelers with his cyclones on the sea, but both are near and dear to my heart.
2. Prince Froggy in Yoshi’s Island
Prince Froggy is an interesting villain in Yoshi’s Island (1995) who swallows the iconic Yoshi after Yoshi is shrunk down by Kamek. In fact, this is the only time that a boss is not enlarged by Kamek; even Kamek knows the inherent perfection that exists within frogs. I like to believe that Prince Froggy’s defeat results only in a tummyache and slight indigestion, otherwise, I would have to cancel Yoshi.
1. All of the frogs in Frogger
No video game froggy list would be complete without the OGs of video game froggies that you assist in Frogger (1981). The frogs in the game are so iconic that Frogger has been remade several times with a new installment set to be released in the future. Additionally, the game was considered among the first of games that transcended gender and age-based gaming appeal in the general public.
